Nikeo Collins appointed as Chief of Police

The Natchitoches City Council approved the appointment of Captain Nikeo Collins as Chief of Police for the Natchitoches Police Department at its Aug. 23 meeting.

Collins has dedicated 27 years to the police department, starting as a reserve where he volunteered his time while also enrolled as a student at Northwestern State University. He started full time in 1996 as a patrolman, working his way through the department as he progressed. In 1998 he started in Investigations and was introduced to the Natchitoches Multi-Jurisdictional Drug Task Force.

“Captain Collins is a very impressive individual,” said Mayor Ronnie Williams Jr., who mentioned that Collins has gotten $1,040,497.80 in cumulative money from over 49 grants to fund law enforcement efforts to continue serving the community.

Advertise For Bids For Caustic Soda For The Water Treatment Plant (Bid No. 0642)

Approve A Temporary Site License With New Cingular Wireless PCS And Authorizing The Mayor Of The City Of Natchitoches, Ronnie Williams, Jr., To Execute Same On Behalf Of The City Of Natchitoches, Louisiana.

Hire Carollo Engineers, MAVA Engineering, LLC, EJES Inc., And Shuler Consulting Company For Grant Application Submitted To The Louisiana Division Of Administration For Funding Under Water Sector Program (SEE DOCUMENT BELOW). The City Water Plant needs more capacity along with rehabbing part of the existing plant to get more, better quality water out of it to allow for future growth. The firm will provide the preliminary data the City needs to include in its grant applications. The cost is estimated to be up to $200,000 for this phase. Four years ago just under 90 acres was purchased south of Fairgrounds Road that was believed to be an area where a new plant could be located. It’s been sitting since then, but the City thinks the opportunity is now to look at building a new plant on this site.

Create Of A Master Plan For The Economic Development Of The City Of Natchitoches In Cooperation With The Parish Of Natchitoches, To The Extent The Parties Are Able To Agree Upon A Cost-Sharing Structure For The Implementation Thereof, And Providing For Other Matters In Connection Therewith.
