The City Council introduced an ordinance at its Sept. 27 meeting to amend and re-enact Section 8-4 of the Code Of Ordinances providing for permit fees for new construction, alteration, repair and remodeling and Section 8-4.1 providing for permit fees for removal or demolition of existing buildings or structures (SEE DOCUMENT BELOW).
These sections have not been amended since 1993 and the Director of Planning and Zoning recommended a new schedule of fees be approved that’s more in line with fees charged by other municipalities.
City Attorney Alex Washington added that the Council will see the updating of policies and procedures taking place over the next year as a lot of them are really outdated.
