Natchitoches Police arrest an individual for several firearm charges after a vehicle pursuit

On February 24, 2022 around 1:05 p.m., officers with the Natchitoches Police Department and agents with the Natchitoches Multi-Jurisdictional Drug Task Force attempted to stop a vehicle in the 700 block of Texas Street. The vehicle refused to stop and led officers and agents on a pursuit through several neighborhoods before stopping on Amulet Street near Payne Street. During the pursuit the suspect threw a fully loaded AR-15 out of his window that was recovered by Task Force agents and crashed into a vehicle that was travelling on Lake Street.

Reginald Thompson (B/M, 22 y.o.a. of Natchitoches) was placed under arrest on outstanding warrants for Illegal Carrying of a Firearm, Illegal Supplying a Felon with a Firearm and Possession of a Firearm on the Premises of an Alcohol Beverage Outlet in reference to a shooting that took place at a business in the 600 block of South Drive in May of 2021. He was also arrested for Obstruction of Justice, two Failure to Appear warrants through the Natchitoches Police Department and two Failure to Appear warrants with the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office. Additional charges are pending after a full review of the vehicle pursuit and crash.

Reginald Thompson was placed in the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center.
