Last Tuesday, Dillon Pikes again showed why he is considered one of the Top 25 LHSAA track and field athletes to watch this season. Pikes does not shy away from pressure; instead, he rises to the occasion, setting a new school record with a Triple Jump of 45 feet and 7.5 inches at the district track meet. Pikes also placed 1st in the long and triple jump, making him the Most Outstanding Male Field Athlete of District 3-2A for the second consecutive year.
Dillon had this to say about his success, “This is the path God has set for me, and I’m just trying to do my part by staying humble and hungry. My mother raised a group of athletes. The track is something that everyone in my family is good at!”
The Gators’ success didn’t stop with Pikes. Several Gators will be representing Lakeview at the regional meet on Tuesday at NSU, including Andre Sowell, Caiden Washington, Kylin Collins, Alex Perry, Jorryin Harris, and Treston Carter. These young men will have a chance to compete for the opportunity to head to the LHSAA State Championships on May 6 at LSU.
