St. Denis Art League: King of Spring Festival Court

John Michael McConathy reigned as King of the Spring Court Festival Court at the St. Denis Arts Council at its 54th annual ball on April 30.

John Michael McConathy is a graduate of Louisiana Tech University and received his masters degree from Northwestern State University. Mike recently retired after 23 years as head coach of men’s basketball at NSU. Prior to that, Mike coached for 16 years at Bossier Parish Community College in Bossier City. Mike’s fondest memories of his coaching career are the many young men in his programs and the community support. Coach Mike is the winningest college basketball coach in Louisiana.

While coaching at NSU, Mike held basketball camps for girls and boys and team camps for junior high and high school programs. He has been an ambassador for NSU and the game of basketball throughout Louisiana and beyond for over 40 years. Mike is a member and deacon at the First Baptist Church of Natchitoches and has been a youth Sunday school teacher there. He currently leads the youth group at First Baptist Coushatta on Wednesday nights.

In 2020, Mike and his wife, Connie purchased the McConathy family farm in Bienville Parish. They renamed the property after John R. McConathy, Mike’s father, who was a highly decorated basketball player at Northwestern State University. Mike plans on enjoying his retirement and filling his free time managing the 128 acre farm.

John Michael McConathy has been married to Connie Herrmann McConathy for 44 wonderful years. They have two sons Michael and Logan. Michael lives in Houston and is married to the former Lindsey Caldwell and they have one son, Leo. Logan lives in Bossier City and is married to the former Lyndzee Greene and they have three children, Miles, Miller, and Mikah.
