Earlier this month officers with the Natchitoches Police Department attended classes to become certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians. These officers were trained in the proper use of and installation of vehicle child safety seats. They were also taught how to educate the public on the best practices and correct installation of safety seats.
The Natchitoches Police Department will be hosting monthly fitting stations beginning in June. These fittings will be open to anyone wishing to receive information and hands-on assistance from one of our Child Passenger Safety Technicians.

When installed correctly child safety seats and booster seats can save lives. According to the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Safety Administration nearly 9,000 lives have been saved over the past 30 years as a result of properly used child safety seats. It is important that every child is correctly restrained in an appropriate booster seat, child safety seat or seatbelt.
