The Northwestern State tennis team proved its championship mettle on the court, capturing the Southland Conference regular-season title.
Meanwhile, the Lady Demons were just as successful in the classroom, earning acclaim as an Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-Academic team.
NSU’s cumulative team spring grade point average of 3.74 surpassed the minimum of 3.2 to qualify for the honor.
In addition to the team recognition, five Lady Demons were recognized as ITA Academic Award recipients for compiling a GPA of at least 3.5.
“It’s wonderful to see the girls excel both in the classroom and on the court,” coach Jonas Brobeck said. “We’re extremely proud of having five girls named as ITA Scholar Athletes. Individually and as a team, they have maintained our tradition and lived up to the standards we have set for them on and off the court.”
A trio of NSU players – Ayu Ishibashi, Patrycja Polanska and Viktorie Wojcikova – maintained their cumulative 4.0 GPAs while Mariella Minetti (3.87) and Gig Kanaphuet (3.72) cleared the threshold to be named ITA Scholar Athletes.
