Northwestern State volleyball has been named one of the recipients of the United States Marine Corps and the American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Awards for the 2021-22 school year.
The Lady Demons maintained a team GPA of 3.42 through the end of the spring semester to qualify for the award.
They had 10 players named to the Southland Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll following the season and a total of 20 individual recipients across the Northwestern State honor lists.
“I am proud of all our student athletes for the work that they do in the classroom, at home, on the buses and at hotels to be in a position to receive academic honors like this,” eighth-year head coach Sean Kiracofe said. “This, like most things we do on the court, takes a team effort to have an overall GPA to be in consideration for this award.”
“Success in the classroom is an expectation of our program but we are fortunate to recruit and have student athletes that hold themselves to a very high standard academically. I’m always happy for them when they are recognized for that hard work and those high standards.”
Riley Daniel, Haley Hoang, Bryce Potter, Jaylibeth Garcia-Rosa, Ashlyn Svoboda all earned 4.0 GPAs in one of the two semesters during the academic year and Breanna Burrell (3.65) and Addison McDermott (3.67) maintained their NSU Dean’s List averages.
