The Lakeview Gators Start the Year Off on a High Note

Lakeview Jr/Sr High School held its open house on the campus Tuesday, August 9. Several hundred Gators and their families packed the school’s main hallway to see the activities offered at the school. Returning students met old friends and new freshmen saw the opportunities for learning and growth awaiting them.

Principal Karla Renter is in her first year at the school’s helm. While new as the Lakeview principal, she is an experienced educator who brings years of experience to the job. She leads a faculty and staff of around 35 who serve approximately 360 students.

There is no reason for a Gator to go home after the final bell. Lakeview offers its young men and women nine sports to choose from. From basketball to softball and baseball, powerlifting, track, and the parish’s (for now -the team is growing) only one-man golf team, there is something for every athletic taste. There is FFA, 4-H, cheerleading, and danceline, as well as, an award-winning Air Force JROTC program. Mrs. Helm’s superb culinary arts students’ well-honed skills were on display in the tasty treats prepared for the attendees.

The Natchitoches Parish Journal wishes the young men and women of Lakeview High School all the best as they start a new school year. Go Gators!
