NATCHITOCHES – The first six minutes couldn’t have gone much better for Natchitoches Central as the Chiefs connected the opening blow to lead Alexandria Senior High 6-0.
The last 42 minutes couldn’t have gone much worse as the Trojans scored 54 unanswered points in a 54-6 rout of NCHS in Turpin Stadium.
Sophomore quarterback Adam Guillet threw his first touchdown of the regular season with a 28-yard strike to Jeremy Lowe, but it was all ASH from that moment.
ASH running back Datlan Cunningham scored three of the Trojans’ first five touchdowns to build a 35-6 halftime lead, and ASH (1-2) added four more in the second half to demolish NCHS (1-2) in the Chiefs final non-district game.
Early turnovers hampered NCHS’ efforts to keep pace with ASH’s high-powered offense.
The Chiefs open District 1-5A play next week at Southwood, who has started 2-0 for the first time in more than 15 years and could make it 3-0 with a win Friday against Carroll.
FINAL SCORE: Alexandria Senior High 54, Natchitoches Central 6
GAME SITE: Turpin Stadium
RECORDS: NCHS Chiefs (1-2); ASH (1-2)
KEY STATS: The Trojans suffocated the Chiefs offense after the first drive. Jeremiah Miles was held to just 28 rushing yards on 11 carries. Quarterback Adam Guillet had two carries for 18 yards. ASH’s Datlan Cunningham scored three times on runs of 11,13, and 18 yards.
