Natchitoches’ Krewe of Excellence, long a fixture on the area’s Mardi Gras and community service scene, held a seafood fundraiser Saturday, November 11 at the American Legion/VFW Hall on St. Denis St. The event featured a choice of boiled shrimp or fried catfish, both with side dishes and a drink. It was a tough choice indeed, as both the shrimp and catfish were expertly prepared on-site from top-quality seafood donated by the Louisiana Seafood Promotion and Marketing Board.
The Krewe of Excellence does much more than ride around in Mardi Gras parades, however. The Krewe sponsors scholarships and is active in addressing other community needs as well. From donating to fan and toy drives to delivering treats to students during testing week, the members of the Krewe of Excellence pitch in to help our community. The funds raised Saturday will be used to continue their work.
