The Natchitoches Parish Coroner’s Office is continuing to collaborate closely with Othram, Inc., to identify this individual whose remains were discovered in 2005. This is a complex investigation that requires a great deal of time and effort. Although progress has been slow, the office remains hopeful that it will eventually succeed in identifying them.

Testing has been funded so it will move to the next stage of testing, we are hoping to have this case resolved soon.
Since 2005, we have attempted to identify the remains of this subject which was located in October 2005 near Clarence, discovered in a drum encased in cement. As of today, his identity remains unknown. Despite the normal methods of identification such as DNA, facial reconstruction and dental comparisons it is still unknown who this gentleman is. This case was even featured on the film series “Killing Fields” where additional DNA techniques were utilized and a lead was discovered, however that also was excluded. So far, the case has gone cold.
Utilizing a new method, we have teamed up with Orthram to aid in generating new leads using advanced DNA technology and forensic genetic genealogy. Testing is expensive and through DNA Solves and Othram we are hopeful funding can be raised and this case may join other cases they have been successful in identifying and be solved, so this gentleman’s family can be identified and hopefully can lead to further investigation in this case.
