The Natchitoches Parish Veterans and Memorial Park Committee is compiling its annual list of veterans who have died within the past year ahead of the upcoming Memorial Day program.
Each year, the names of recently deceased veterans are read during the ceremony as a way to honor their service and sacrifice. Officials are asking the public to submit the names of veterans who have passed away since April 2025 to be included in this year’s program.
Submissions should include the veteran’s name, along with the name and current phone number of the person submitting the information. The deadline to submit names is May 1, 2026, and information can be emailed to Janet Darfus at darfus@att.net.
The Memorial Day program is scheduled for Monday, May 25, 2026, at 10 a.m. at the Veterans and Memorial Park in Natchitoches. A reception for veterans and their families will follow at the American Legion Post, located at 400 St. Denis Street.
