
The St. Mary’s Lady Tigers golf team and Tiger golfer Cole Yopp are headed to the LHSAA Division IV State Championship after outstanding performances at the regional tournaments last week.
The Lady Tigers claimed the Regional Championship on April 28 at Frenchman’s Bend in Monroe, finishing in 1st place and securing their spot at state. Leading the way for St. Mary’s was Lilly Boyd with an impressive round of 80, followed closely by Lacey Boyd with an 84. Janine Wells also delivered a strong performance with a score of 102, helping the Lady Tigers capture the regional title.
On the boys’ side, Senior Cole Yopp turned in a remarkable performance at The Club at Huntington Park in Shreveport on Wednesday, April 29, tying for 1st place out of a field of 53 golfers. Yopp shot a personal best round of 77 in challenging wet and rainy conditions to earn his place at state.
Both the Tigers and Lady Tigers will compete in the LHSAA Division IV State Championship on Monday and Tuesday, May 4–5.
The Lady Tigers will play at Le Triomphe Golf & Country Club, while Yopp will compete at Farm d’Allie Golf Club in Lafayette.
