Coming off a shutout win on the road over the defending state champion, while the top seed in the Select Division IV baseball bracket was upset, the St. Mary’s Tigers get to host a state quarterfinal playoff game next week.
The ninth-seeded Tigers beat No. 8 Vermilion Catholic 5-0 Wednesday in Abbeville while 16th-seeded Central Catholic upset No. 1 Opelousas Catholic 5-3. That resulted in St. Mary’s earning a home game in the next round.
The contest will be Wednesday, with first pitch at 6 o’clock.
Tickets will be $12 cash at the gate in the East Natchitoches Complex.
St. Mary’s is 16-9. Central Catholic, out of Morgan City, has a 18-15-1 record.
