At approximately 7:11 p.m., deputies stopped a 2003 Ford F-150 on La. Highway 6 near Robeline for displaying no license plate. At approximately 7:55 p.m., deputies stopped a 2014 Kia Optima on La. Highway 6 West east of Robeline for improper display of a license plate. Deputies said the driver initially provided a false name but was later identified as Ashley Evans, 34, of Natchitoches.
A records check showed Evans’ driver’s license was suspended and that she was wanted by the Minden Police Department, Grant Parish Sheriff’s Office for a probation violation and Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office for failure to appear in court on a simple burglary charge, according to NPSO.
Deputies reported smelling marijuana and observing suspected marijuana inside the vehicle. A search allegedly led to the seizure of suspected methamphetamine, fentanyl, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Evans was assessed by Natchitoches Regional Medical Center EMS personnel after she reported recently consuming illegal narcotics and not feeling well. She was released without transport before being booked into the LaSalle Corrections/Natchitoches Detention Center.
Evans was charged with possession of CDS II methamphetamine, possession of CDS II fentanyl, possession of CDS I marijuana, second or subsequent offense possession of CDS II narcotics, possession of drug paraphernalia, traffic violations and outstanding warrants.
Later that evening, deputies stopped a 2011 Ford Taurus near Amulet and Howell streets in Natchitoches for a traffic violation. An occupant, Rodney J. Washington, 20, of Natchitoches, was found to be wanted by the 10th Judicial District Court for failure to appear at a May 12 criminal plea hearing involving charges of simple burglary, contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile, criminal trespass and resisting an officer.
