LA 487 bridge over Brushy Bayou reopens in Natchitoches Parish

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announced that the bridge replacement project on LA 487 over Brushy Bayou in Natchitoches Parish has been completed, and the roadway reopened to traffic Thursday, July 30.

The bridge, located approximately 2.3 miles south of the intersection with LA 174 and south of the Ajax community, closed April 6, 2026, for replacement.

The project had originally been expected to be completed in October 2026, with progress dependent on weather conditions and other factors affecting construction timelines.

DOTD said the project was managed by the Office of Louisiana Highway Construction (OLHC), which oversees construction activities for non-federal aid routes and bridge bundle projects.
