Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s deputies, Natchitoches Parish Fire Protection District No. 3, with mutual aid assistance from Natchitoches Parish Fire Protection District No. 9 and the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry, were dispatched at 1 p.m. to a reported brush fire in the 1700 block of Clark Road near Clarence, according to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Units arrived to find the fire advancing toward a hay field. Deputies believe the fire originated from a downed power line. SWEPCO was on scene.

There were no reported injuries.

At 3 p.m., the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office reported the fire was contained. Deputies said at least 15 round bales burned.

Smoke may be observed in the area for the next couple of days due to the hay smoldering.
