15-year-old arrested on simple burglary, criminal trespassing charges in connection with Provencal Elementary burglary

Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Detectives have arrested a 15-year-old juvenile in connection with the recent burglary of Provencal Elementary School in Provencal, according to Natchitoches Parish Sheriff Stuart Wright.

On August 19, 2026, at approximately 7:00 a.m., an NPSO School Resource Officer assigned to Provencal Elementary School was notified by school officials that the school had been burglarized.

Deputies learned that entry had been gained into the school and that several items were missing. The missing property included approximately $100 in cash and two cheerleading jackets valued at approximately $186.

The School Resource Officer, working with school officials, began reviewing school security video and developed a person of interest in the investigation.

An offense report was completed and the case was turned over to the NPSO Criminal Investigations Bureau and High Tech Crime Unit for further investigation.

As the investigation continued, detectives identified a 15-year-old juvenile as a suspect. Detectives requested that the juvenile and a guardian come to the NPSO Criminal Investigations Bureau for an interview.

Detectives say that during the interview, which was conducted in the presence of the juvenile’s guardian, a confession was obtained connecting the juvenile to the burglary.

The juvenile was subsequently placed under arrest and charged with Simple Burglary and Criminal Trespassing.

The juvenile’s name is not being released due to juvenile offender laws.

Following the arrest, the juvenile was transported to a juvenile detention facility in Jackson Parish pending a juvenile hearing before the 10th Judicial District Court.

Detectives say the investigation remains active and additional charges are pending.

Deputy SRO Myron Robinson, Detective Sgt. D. Sowell and Detective Sgt. C. Campbell were involved in the investigation and arrest.

Sheriff Stuart Wright and the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office thank the administration and staff of Provencal Elementary School for their cooperation and assistance throughout the investigation.

The investigation is continuing.
