The Journal is saying thank you to its readers with a special Reader Appreciation Giveaway beginning Monday, Sept. 14.
One qualifying reader will receive a $300 Walmart gift card when the giveaway concludes later in the week.
Registration opens Friday, Sept. 11, 2026, and will remain open through Thursday, Sept. 17, 2026. A winner will be selected from the pool of eligible qualifiers and announced Friday, Sept. 18, 2026.
There is no cost to participate.
The $300 Walmart gift card is part of the Journal’s continuing effort to thank readers for making the Journal part of their daily routine and for supporting local news and information.
Only one registration per person will be accepted. The winner will be contacted using the information submitted on the registration form.
Registration opens Sept. 11 and closes Sept. 17. The winner will be announced Sept. 18.

Reader Appreciation Giveaway — Contest Rules & Details
By submitting an entry, participants agree to these rules and certify that the information submitted on the registration form is accurate.
Anyone who meets the eligibility requirements may participate in the Journal’s Reader Appreciation Giveaway at no cost. No purchase is necessary to enter or win.
To qualify, participants must complete and submit the official online registration form during the announced registration period. Limit one qualifying entry per person.
To qualify, readers must complete the Journal’s online registration form and provide the following information:
- First name
- Last name
- City
- Parish
- Active email address
- Active cell phone number
One winner will be selected from the pool of all eligible qualifiers. The selected winner will receive a $300 gift card.
Every eligible qualifier who completes the registration process will receive a Lifetime Free Subscription to the Journal, delivered directly to the email address provided during registration. There is no charge for the subscription now or in the future.
The only persons not eligible to participate are the publisher, the publisher’s immediate family, Journal employees, and regular content contributors to the Journal as determined by Journal management.
The winner will be contacted using the information provided on the registration form. The winner must respond within the time period established by Journal management. If the selected winner cannot be reached, does not respond, or is determined to be ineligible, the Journal may select another winner from the remaining pool of eligible qualifiers.
The winner must agree to have his or her name and photograph published by the Journal in connection with the announcement of the giveaway winner.
All decisions by Journal management concerning eligibility, qualification, winner selection and administration of the giveaway are final.
The Journal reserves the right to modify, suspend or cancel the giveaway if circumstances require it, without prior notice to the public.
