Property Tax Protest Deadline Is 4:30 p.m. Today

Natchitoches Parish taxpayers who want to contest their 2026 property assessments must file a written appeal with the parish president by 4:30 p.m. today. Appeals must be sent by certified mail or hand delivered. The Natchitoches Parish Council will meet at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 21, in the council board room, Room 211 of the parish courthouse, to receive protests and hear complaints on property values fixed by the Natchitoches Parish Assessor. The notice was issued by Parish President John Salter.

NSU Fall Career Fair Set for Sept. 29

Northwestern State University’s Office of Career Services will host its Fall 2026 Career Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, in the Friedman Student Union Ballroom. Nearly 40 businesses and graduate and professional programs are scheduled to attend. The fair is open to undergraduate and graduate students and professional attire is required. Career Fair Prep Week precedes it with resume reviews Sept. 22, mock interviews Sept. 23, and a career fair presentation and visit to the NSU Business Closet Sept. 24. Students who attend two of the three prep events and the fair can enter a drawing for an iPad provided by Enterprise Mobility. NSU Marks 25th Anniversary of Sept. 11 Attacks

Northwestern State University students, faculty and staff gathered in the center of campus Friday to mark the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. The university holds an annual Patriot Day observance with the lowering of flags to half-staff, a moment of silence and a message remembering those who died, the bravery of first responders and ordinary citizens, and the importance of compassion, community and service.

Scholars’ College Preview Day Set for Oct. 17
Northwestern State University

Northwestern State University’s Louisiana Scholars’ College will host a preview day Saturday, Oct. 17, for prospective students and their families. The program includes an overview of the honors college, sample classes and information on academic and social opportunities available to students.
