Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Deputies recovered a stolen vehicle and arrested a Natchitoches man Saturday evening following an investigation that began in the Hagewood area, according to Sheriff Stuart Wright.
On September 12, 2026, NPSO deputies responded to a residence in the 6800 block of Louisiana Highway 6 near Hagewood after receiving a report of a stolen vehicle.
Deputies made contact with the vehicle owner, who reported that she had left the residence for a period of time and discovered upon returning that her white 2011 Ford SUV was missing. The owner told deputies that she had the vehicle keys in her possession and had not given anyone permission to use or take the vehicle.
Deputies obtained identifying information on the vehicle and requested NATCOM 911 Center issue a BOLO (Be On the Lookout) to area law enforcement agencies.
Later that evening, an NPSO deputy on patrol observed a vehicle matching the description and license plate of the stolen vehicle traveling in the Washington Street area of Natchitoches. The deputy followed the vehicle while additional law enforcement units responded to assist.
With assistance from the Natchitoches Police Department, deputies stopped the vehicle and safely took the driver, identified as Donald R. Coleman IV, 24, of Campti, into custody without incident.
The stolen vehicle was recovered.
During the investigation, deputies also discovered suspected drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle.
Coleman was transported and booked into the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center on charges of: Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Deputies also learned that Coleman had an outstanding warrant through the Natchitoches City Marshal’s Office.
Sheriff Stuart Wright thanked the responding deputies, NATCOM 911 Center communications personnel and the Natchitoches Police Department for their cooperation and assistance in the quick recovery of the stolen vehicle and apprehension of the suspect.
