The Natchitoches-Northwestern Symphony Society invites the community to enjoy a free evening of live orchestral music on Tuesday, September 22, at 7:30 p.m. in Magale Recital Hall on the Northwestern State University campus. Admission to this opening-night concert is free for all attendees.
Launching the 2026–2027 season, “American Mosaic: A Celebration of Our Enduring Spirit Through Music,” the concert will celebrate America’s 250th anniversary with a patriotic program under the direction of Dr. Douglas Bakenhus. The orchestra will be joined by NSU Choirs.
For the Symphony Society, opening night is also an invitation to discover the musical talent here in Natchitoches. Through scholarships and support for the orchestra, the Society helps student musicians develop their talents while enriching the cultural life of the community.
Longtime supporters, first-time concertgoers, families and friends are all welcome. Bring someone who has never attended and share an evening celebrating music and community.
