Natchitoches Central hasn’t backed away from challenging non-district opponents.
Tonight the Chiefs face another, going to Sterlington to play former St. Mary’s coach Lee Doty’s ballclub, which is the reigning two-time Non-Select Division III state champion.
NCHS (0-2) has fallen at home to Sam Houston (42-20) and Non-Select Division II runner-up North DeSoto (56-21), faltering after halftime in both contests.
Sterlington is 1-1 after falling 34-20 last week to the Jena Giants, who was the victim in the Panthers’ state championship win last December.
The Chiefs have allowed 28 and 35 points after halftime in the first two games. They were tied with North DeSoto at 21 at halftime last week before the Griffins took command.
The game will be carried in Natchitoches on 100.7 FM KZBL.
