Cowboy hats were the fashion accessory of choice as several thousand NSU students and Country Music fans from throughout the area gathered for the inaugural Top of the Boot Music Festival on Oct. 16-17. The two-day event featured 10 acts performing on what had to be the largest and most impressive stage ever to grace the NSU campus, if not the City of Natchitoches.
Concertgoers were treated to a solid lineup of Country artists such as Laney Gardner, Bottomland, Rodney Atkins, Louisiana’s own Laine Hardy and many more. Headliner Flatland Calvary closed out the festival on a high note with a performance that kept concertgoers on their feet and the dance area filled.
The Top of the Boot Music Festival was held as a fundraiser for Northwestern State University’s athletic program. NSU sponsors 14 NCAA Division I sports with 375 young men and women competing. They are well worth cheering for! The Top of the Boot Music Festival was terrific fun and will hopefully be the first of many more in the future.
