Beatles and Brews provides evening of superb music for great cause

Several hundred music lovers came together at a local brewery Tuesday, October 21 for a fun and nostalgic look at the music of the Beatles. The Beatles and Brews event was the third of what will hopefully be many more concerts benefiting the Natchitoches Council on Aging.

The event featured a number of stalwarts of the local music scene, performing together as “The Rubber Souls.” Everyone’s favorite local attorney, and showman, Johnny Earthquake, was joined by a group of talented local musicians in treating the audience to a selection of songs from the Beatles’ many albums. Perhaps the evening’s biggest surprise was another member of the Harrington family displaying his musical chops. City Councilman and local attorney Eddie Harrington joined his father in singing a few Beatles selections.

Each of the musicians donated their time and talents to this worthy cause. The Natchitoches Council on Aging does vital work in improving the lives of senior citizens in our parish. They provide a Meal on Wheels program that delivers food to homebound seniors. The COA also provides meals at their building on Keyser Ave. The group is always looking to expand their offerings to our senior citizens. The money raised will stay in our community and bring a better life to area seniors. The Natchitoches Parish Journal is eagerly awaiting next year’s concert!
