Dr. Allison Landry, Senior Lecturer of Biology at the Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts (LSMSA), has received the University of Chicago (UChicago) Outstanding Educator Award.
Each year, newly admitted UChicago students are invited to nominate an educator who played a significant role in their education, made a positive impact in their lives, and helped bring them to where they are today. Hundreds of students admitted to the Class of 2030 submitted nominations.
The UChicago Outstanding Educator Award recognizes Dr. Landry as a role model for students and for thoughtfully approaching instruction, sharing an infectious love for learning, and caring for students both inside and outside of the classroom. “Allison stood out among a field of incredible, capable, and inspiring educators. We are proud to recognize them, and in turn, recognize your institution!” said UChicago Vice President and Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid Jim Nondorf.
“For over 20 years, Dr. Landry has nurtured and inspired countless LSMSA students,” said Dr. Jason Anderson, Executive Director of LSMSA, “and we are happy to see her dedication and mentorship honored with this prestigious award.”
Landry was nominated by LSMSA class of 2026 graduate Annabel Schleifstein.
“I am so honored by this award, and appreciative of my nomination by Annabel. Teaching and mentoring my students is very important to me and why I continue to teach at Louisiana School,” Landry said.
The Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts is Louisiana’s top state-supported residential high school, offering selective admissions for the state’s high-achieving, highly motivated sophomores, juniors, and seniors. As a public school, there is no tuition, and support from the LSMSA Foundation ensures the program remains accessible to all qualified students regardless of financial need.
