When I first ran for Sheriff in 2019, I made four promises: I would never do anything illegal, I would never do anything unethical, I would be a responsible steward of your tax dollars, and I would serve no more than two terms. I have honored those promises, and today I want you to know that I will not seek re-election in 2027. I intend to retire at the conclusion of my current term in July 2028.
I want to personally thank each of you for your hard work, dedication, and professionalism over these past eight years. The success of the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office has been a team effort, and I am proud of what we have accomplished together.
While the next election will bring changes in leadership, our mission and responsibilities will not change. I expect the business of this office to continue as usual through the end of my term, without distraction from politics or the upcoming election. Our duties to the citizens of Natchitoches Parish must always come first.
I will have more to discuss with you privately next week about the future of the Sheriff’s Office. But for now, we have important work still to do, and I expect us to remain focused on serving the people of Natchitoches Parish with the same dedication and professionalism they deserve.
Thank you
Stuart Wright
Sheriff, Natchitoches Parish
