Young at Heart seniors enjoy musical entertainment at November luncheon

The monthly Young at Heart luncheon for seniors was held November 4 at First United Methodist Church, featuring musical entertainment by the Natchitoches Misfits Band.

The band performed a selection of pop, country and rock and roll songs. Members include Johnny Dunn, Buddy Boudreaux, Julia Higginbotham Brown, Emily Bryant and Keith Shirley.

A highlight of the program was a solo performance by Julia Higginbotham Brown of “I Will Always Love You,” sung in tribute to Dolly Parton.

November birthdays were recognized for Rick Hargis and Jodi Shirley, while Julia Higginbotham Brown was recognized for her November wedding anniversary.

Harvey Polk served as master of ceremonies, and Pastor Gary Willis offered a prayer before the meal. Thanksgiving-themed table decorations were provided by the church’s Grace Circle.

Young at Heart meets on the first Wednesday of each month at 11 a.m. in Bostick Hall. The gathering is non-denominational, and all community seniors are invited to attend for entertainment, food and fellowship.

Attendees are asked to pay a $5 fee or bring a covered dish to share.

The next meeting is scheduled for December 2.
