As he has done for the past three months, N-Club Hall of Famer Marcus Spears is coming back to the Northwestern State campus in a giving mood.
Friday morning, Spears and the Food Bank of Central Louisiana again will partner to distribute food to Natchitoches Parish families with the giveaway originating at the Collins Alumni Pavilion.
The event, which runs from 10 a.m.-12 p.m., marks the fourth time Spears and the food bank have paired up to assist Natchitoches Parish residents. The initial Sept. 16 giveaway, after Hurricane Laura cut through Louisiana, fed 322 families from the parish.
Successive giveaways have produced similar results with lines winding their way through the Prather Coliseum east side parking lot toward Jefferson Street.
Following the same protocols as previous giveaways, goods will be distributed in drive-thru fashion with recipients needing to provide photo identification. There are no income restrictions to receive any distributed food, which will include non-perishables as well as fresh produce and additional frozen items.
