Natchitoches Parish School District Finance Director Lee Waskom told board members that everything appears to be on target in the General Fund budget during his budget update at the March 9 Board meeting. Sales tax collections are 6.84 percent higher than they were in February of last year. The cumulative increase for the year is an 8.28 percent. Motor vehicle sales are also up, by $120,000.
Superintendent Dr. Grant Eloi addressed the rumor mill that’s been spreading untrue statements about a large number of resignations among teachers at several schools and among bus drivers.
“We are well staffed and I have heard these rumors and I just wanted to put them to rest,” said Eloi.
Board member Reba Phelps said staffing is in the best shape it’s been in since she’s been on the board.
