
The Natchitoches Parish School Board recognized the Lakeview Lady Gators Basketball Team at its April 13 Board Meeting. They made it all the way to the championship game of the LHSAA Tournament this year.
“They’ve had an amazing season,” said Superintendent Dr. Grant Eloi. “I don’t think it’s over. I think next year they’re going to be back at it.”
Eloi said Head Coach Fuller and his team represented Natchitoches Parish very well.
Team member Washington was selected as first team, all state at the tournament.
Not only do these student athletes handle their business on the court, but six of them have a 4.0 GPA.
The Gators Boys’ Basketball team was recognized at the April 13 committee meeting.
In other business Finance Director Lee Waskom presented information on the March sales taxes collections, which were down 5.06 percent. However for July-March they were at 8.28 percent and now cumulatively for the year it’s at 6.78 percent growth.
“We’re still good,” said Waskom, who added that a lot of this is in Motor Vehicle Collections which were at $348,000 last year and $284,000 this year.
Agenda items included:
Grant permission to advertise for milk as well as paper and cleaning products for the 23-24 school year.
Suspend the rules and add to the agenda the declaration of surplus items for auction.
Approve selected items for surplus for May 6, 2023 School Board auction.
Approve salary schedule changes effective for July 1, 2023.
No action was taken on an item to discuss and consider Roy O Martin ITEP non compliance plan.
Approve subdivision of old Cloutierville School Property as attached creating a new school bus turnaround of 1.44 acres and approve Dr Eloi to sign on behalf of Natchitoches Parish School Board as owner on attached document to be filed at Clerk of Court Office.
Approve changes to GBRH and DJD policies concerning out of state Travel.
Approve the start of a feasibility study of alternative schedules/calendars during the school year 2023-2024 for consideration of implementation in 2024.
Approve Superintendent working with LDOE to convert Natchitoches Magnet’s site code status from school to program.
Approve amendments to the CIR incentive and relocation incentive programs.
